Halloween in Wakefield

We missed Thanksgiving in Ottawa with my family so we bombed up for Halloween. In Wakefield, the town shuts down a whole road and its packed with kids and patents trick or treating. I feel for the people who live on that road because the candy bill must be massive.
Ella got a nice birthday gift from Gramma Gramma (my Mum, her Grand Maman) and Alan the night before Halloween: an awesome Princess costume. Cameron went as a Princess as well, but because Ella wanted to be the only Princess, we called Cameron a Prince. She immediately changed her name to a weird symbol (π) and hasn't put out a decent CD since.
My Sis went as a blue raver girl. Or something. Great costume anyway.
Beside the fact that it was about – 40 out that night, and pretty much every kid looked like a monster/princess/pirate/Dora wearing a snowsuit, it was pretty cool.
Ella went completely nuts. She basically took off at a run and tried to hit as many houses as possible. It's like I taught her myself. Proud. The only houses she skipped were ones that had something outside that was scarier than the lure of candy. π followed Ella pretty much everywhere but steered well clear of any dogs/scary things/people who looked scary/etc. π eventually got tired ("and fed up with the small town fans") and had her entourage collect candy.
Now, Wakefield being the hippie center of Eastern Canada, the girls got some odd treats. The ones that took the cake were Organic Rice cakes. I ate all their candy that night while they slept but left the Organic Rice cakes. They may not know it now, but they'll be healthier in the long run.
Cousin Delilah who is 9 now, was too cool to hang with Ella and π. She went off with her friends.
