Cottage Cheese

This summer, we rented a cottage in Wakefield, just a short drive from where my family lives. It was a great cottage right beside a small lake.

The girls loved it – Ella spent more time in the water than some local fish. She went from one person to the next looking for a swimming partner. If someone said no, then she moved down the line. Because the line was pretty short usually (Mom, then Dad), I spent a lot of time in the water. Ella was pretty brave and after a few days was jumping in right from the dock.

Cameron wasn't into swimming yet. She was happy chilling on the dock and trying to catch fish with a toy net. One day she caught a 6 pound bass. I was impressed, but was blown away when she cleaned it and cooked it. She even paired it with a nice white wine. Smart kid, eh?

Actually, Ella did catch a small fish in the net one day. It was hilarious. The scene was complete panic (while she dropped the net screaming to me to help her) followed by complete joy when I managed to get it out and back in the water (complete joy at catching it in the first place).

The girls spent their time dropping stuffed animals from the second floor down to the first (it was open concept), playing on the deck and swimming. Great week for them.
